Incat Crowther is pleased to announce the delivery of Rapido Gee, a 42m steel monohull utility vessel. Built by Strategic Marine, Rapido Gee is a further development of the design used for the successful ten vessel fleet of Infield Utility Vessels delivered by Strategic Marine last year.
Currently in transit to the Middle East, Rapido Gee will be operated by Rashied Marine Services in the service of offshore platforms. In response to calls for construction simplicity, Incat Crowther re-engineered the vessel with mild steel used in the hull in place of the original high tensile steel. The result is reduced material cost and material lead times with only minor impact to the vessel’s performance.
Rapido Gee features a 100 square metre aft working deck, with 40 tonnes of cargo capacity. Stern and bow platforms are fitted for personnel transfers.
The main deck cabin seats 40 personnel, as well as accommodating 100 survivors in the event that the vessel is called into an emergency situation. A sick bay is also located on this deck, as are a galley, crew mess and food storage for the vessel’s 14 crew.
Rapido Gee’s crew sleep below decks, with a noise lock / service void separating them from the engine room to minimize transfer of noise and vibration to the accommodation spaces.
The vessel’s propulsion system consists of a trio of Yanmar 12AYM-WET main engines, the centre of which drives a fire pump. Propulsion is by fixed-pitch propellers via ZF gearboxes. Rapido Gee has a service speed of 20 knots.
The vessel is classed to Lloyd’s Register SSC rules.
